Hemorrhoids Experience Report
Years of Suffering Finally Over! 24-Year-Old Reports on His Hemorrhoidal Disease
“I knew something was wrong for a long time, but I didn’t have the courage to confide in anyone,” explains Mr. Singh. Many people who struggle with rectal symptoms such as bleeding or pain feel the same way. The 24-year-old suffered from enlarged hemorrhoids until recently, for about five years. As an independent manager of a transport company, R. Singh used to deliver his shipments himself until a few years ago. At that time, sitting also started to cause problems. Earlier this year, he underwent laser therapy from biolitec. Now he shares his experiences: “I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can help others, especially young people, to overcome their shame and see a doctor early.”
Patients Often Delay Seeing a Doctor for Hemorrhoids
The only person R. Singh confided in was his brother: “That must have been about two years ago. My brother and I tell each other everything. It was only through him that I learned that such problems are widespread. He encouraged me to see a doctor.” Like many young people, he then sought the necessary information from the internet. Instead of his general practitioner, he went directly to a proctologist (specialist in the rectum), but this would not be the last one.
Diseases Like Hemorrhoids Affect All Population Groups
“The first doctor saw no need for action. I didn’t find out what I had. He only prescribed ointments and suppositories that didn’t help me.” R. Singh felt not taken seriously. Another visit to the same doctor was not an option for him. At the next proctologist, he at least got a name for his symptoms. He has hemorrhoidal disease, meaning pathologically enlarged hemorrhoids. This differentiation is important because what few people know is that everyone has hemorrhoids. They support fine continence. Therefore, preserving them often plays a significant role in choosing treatment. R. Singh’s doctor performed a rubber band ligation. A rubber band is placed around the enlarged cushion and tied off. However, the doctor lacked the necessary sensitivity when applying it: “He just put the rubber band on. He didn’t care how it was for me or that I was in pain, as long as it was in place,” reports Singh.
In Shameful and Painful Rectal Conditions, the Doctor-Patient Relationship and Choice of Therapy Are Especially Important
Neither the rubber band ligation nor ointments and suppositories helped R. Singh. Still ill and uncertain, he came to Dr. Erik Allemeyer’s consultation. Dr. Allemeyer understands the importance of detailed explanation and sensitivity in proctology. He also tried the rubber band ligation. However, there was a crucial difference, explains R. Singh: “It was different from the start with Dr. Allemeyer. I was informed about every step of the treatment. He carefully felt the area and asked if the placement was okay. When I came for a check-up, he wanted to know exactly how I was doing.”

Conservative Approaches Are Often but Not Always Successful for Hemorrhoids
But even this time, there was no lasting improvement. A new approach was needed: “I didn’t care what was done, as long as the symptoms disappeared. I just wanted to avoid a real surgery with excision. Mainly to not be out of work for too long in my self-employment.” Dr. Allemeyer informed R. Singh about his options. He advised him to undergo the LHP laser therapy from biolitec because of his desire to quickly recover and his pre-existing condition, Type 1 diabetes. In this procedure, a laser fiber is inserted into the hemorrhoid, irradiating it with laser light from the inside and shrinking it back to its natural size. The treatment is quick and gentle on the patient. Since diabetes can cause problems with wound healing, it is particularly suitable because the hemorrhoid is only punctured.
Laser HemorrhoidoPlasty (LHP) Is Also Suitable for High-Risk Patients
Mr. Singh’s treatment lasts just under half an hour. He leaves the clinic the next day on his own feet. “I only needed painkillers on the first day, two days later I could take care of my business a little bit again. Of course, I took it easy, but at least a little was manageable again,” R. Singh tells us. After a week and a half, he can resume his regular daily activities. At the follow-up appointment, both doctor and patient are satisfied with the result. “I can’t yet assess whether everything is completely normal again, but it’s definitely much better than before the treatment,” R. Singh explains shortly afterward. He didn’t have to pay anything; his statutory health insurance covers the costs in full. “Of course, it’s still a bit early for a final verdict, but if I could turn back time now, I would definitely choose the laser therapy again,” R. Singh shares. When asked if he would recommend LHP, he finds clear words: “The way it has developed so far? Yes, definitely.”
