Steffen Giesse - Interview on Fat Reduction

LipoLas LaserLift for Fat Reduction and Body Contouring

Steffen Giesse is the founder of the Estetic Lounge Ludwigshafen, a specialist practice for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery. He has many years of experience in aesthetic medicine, trains colleagues, and is a lecturer at international congresses.

What is the LipoLas LaserLift method?

The LipoLas LaserLift is an outpatient laser medical procedure performed under local anesthesia. Through tiny punctures, a thin laser fiber is used to specifically liquefy and gently remove fat tissue.

What is special about this procedure?

The light energy of a fiber-optic diode laser, converted into heat, liquefies the fat tissue. Depending on the area, the fat can either be broken down through metabolism or manually suctioned. The laser heat also usually seals blood vessels, reducing bleeding, and stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers, leading to a visible tightening of the subcutaneous connective tissue and skin. Since the fat cells do not regrow in the treated areas, the results are often permanent.

Which body areas can be treated?

The LipoLas LaserLift is suitable for most body regions with excess fat deposits. These include large areas such as the abdomen, legs, or buttocks, as well as small areas like the face and neck. Particularly interesting is its application in the so-called “Brazilian Butt Lift,” where removed fat is used to contour other body areas.

Is the procedure painful?

The treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia, sometimes supplemented by a mild sedative. Patients can typically leave the practice directly afterward. In some cases, general anesthesia is also possible.

How long is the recovery period?

Thanks to the gentle procedure, most patients can return to work and resume their daily activities after just a few days. The sealing effect of the laser heat on vessels often results in minimal bruising, positively influencing the healing process. A formal sick leave is not necessarily required in many cases.

What are the costs and are they covered?

The treatment with the LipoLas LaserLift is not covered by health insurance, as it is an aesthetic cosmetic correction. The costs are borne by the patient.
